Introduction to my Learning
The course EDMT 540 ICT in Mathematics Education is the course to get the ample exposure to learn the ICT in the present context. The course module is designed for mathematics teacher to get the knowledge, skill, ideas and capability to work on different ICT tools and technologies. So, regarding my learning I have learned too many things such as I learn about different software for teaching mathematics. I learn about ICT tools. As the course module is related to ICT, we were made familiar with the ICT as well as provided opportunity for learning by doing ourselves. Moreover being as a Mathematics teacher we are encouraged to apply the ICT in our daily teaching for making fruitful discussion.
There are a lot of contents we learned. Some of them are listed below:
- Blended learning.
- Flipped class.
- TPACK and SAMR
- ICT and Bloom's Taxonomy.
- Documents processing .
- Presentation software.
- Spreedsheet.
- Google work space
- Gmail, classroom, drive, sheet, slide, forms etc.
This ICT in mathematics education course has made change in my teaching methodology. Even students are made to use the ICT for learning mathematics. On the other hand ICT became part of life. Everytime ICT is connected with us. We should be updated to ICT in the present context.
Learning Mathematics
Learning mathematics should be related with the real world situation. Every mathematical problem should be connected with the real world to make fruitful, meaningful and contextual. Learning mathematics can include the contents learning through the different ICT tools and the software for learning through the visualization, animation and info graphics.
Linkage of ICT tools, techniques and methods
During the course I got an opportunity to use ICT tools for teaching mathematics. There are different tools such as hardware and software and other communication devices along with the computer and its peripheral devices. Additionally I got to know about the techniques of teaching mathematics by using ICT tools. I was familiar with the smart board as well as techniques to teach the mathematics in a innovative way. The mathematics should be taught in a student centered methods such as discussion, interaction, collaborative learning and learning by doing method. Moreover we are being made to work through the varieties of software.
List out 2-3 ICT tools and their usage in mathematics teaching and learning.
Basically Teaching mathematics means to make
students to get knowledge, skill and positive attitude towards learning
mathematics and to develop the problem solving by connecting with the real life
situation. From the elementary level to university level mathematics is taken
as the difficult subject. So to reduce such thoughts from people a facilitator
must address the learning abilities of the learner and the diverse environment
where they come from. Moreover a facilitator must let a learner to learn by
themselves with project work, field visit, discussion, interaction, and many
more student centered methods. Also as this the age of science and technology
it is necessary to be familiar with computer and ICT tools to teach and learn
the content more effectively. Computer and ICT tools also help to connect the
people throughout the whole world.
Nowadays
computer and ICT tools become one of the important part of human life as it
helps in different field. So in my understanding there are different most
useful and fundamental computer and ICT tools. They can be listed as below with
their usage.

the above computer and ICT tools there are other hardware and software tools or
devices which help to teach / learn mathematics. They can be listed as below:
a) Interactive whiteboard: It can be use as
monitor or whiteboard.
b) Smart TV: It's a tool like a TV.
c) Tab: It can be used for learning.
d) Laptop, Palmtop: For teaching and learning.
Also different computer program or the software
to teach/learn mathematics are as below:
a) GeoGebra : For the visualization of the
content.
b) Mathematica: To deliver the the content
effectively.
c) Algebra kit: To make clear understanding of algebraic
expressions.
d) Pinterest: For mathematical learning.
Advantages and disadvantages of learning remotely:
- Learning is more interesting.
- Collaborative learning through various collaborative tools.
- Interaction between friends.
